Doorways 2 Civil Construction

If you're still at high school and considering a career in mining and resources, you don't have to wait to graduate before working towards your career goals.

McCosker offers a variety of employment pathways through our involvement with Education Queensland and Industry Partnership (EQIP) programs in Gladstone.

If you are currently in year 9 (2010) you can apply to participate in the Doorways 2 Civil Construction for 2011 - Applications close 17/09/2010.

McCosker spokesman Rod Marriage said the programs presented school students with clear pathways into the industry, as well as beginning to develop the skills set required to forge a successful career.  "We are heavily involved in the education and training of youth in Gladstone as ultimately they are potentially our future employees, or employees of companies we are associated with," Mr Marriage said.

Jonathon Rebel, a year 10 Gladstone State High School student, is enrolled in the Doorways 2 Civil Construction program, and on completion with graduate with a certificate I in Resources and Infrastructure Operations, as well as having valuable on-site experience.  "I attend the program once a week doing formsetting, concreting, jack hammering and the basic use of equipment I would not be able to use at school".
