About the role

Reporting to the Project Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day implementation of the McCosker Contracting HSE system, the project works and engaging with site leaders, the business and other key stakeholders to achieve the projects and business goals.

  • FIFO - Darwin, Cairns & Brisbane
  • Roster - 3 weeks on, 1 week off

This position will:

  • Coordinate, supervise and monitor the project to ensure that HSE key performance indicators are met
  • Report situations at the workplace that could constitute a hazard to any person, environment, or equipment
  • Complete and manage all relevant paperwork
  • Manage and motivate a dedicated workforce to maximise operational objectives to include HSE programs
  • Conduct job observations and safety interactions to improve safety outcomes
  • Interpret legislation, standards and technical specifications relating to HSE
  • Manage and drive safety, quality and environmental initiatives within the workplace
  • Record, process, and store HSE data for ongoing evaluation and identification of solutions to improve effectiveness 
  • Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions and other safety practices and programs to assist in growth and exceeding standards.

To be successful you will have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years proven experience within HSE capacity in the construction field
  • Diploma / Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Knowledge of the Civil Construction Industry
  • Expertise in communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Current and valid driver licence 
  • Construction Induction - Blue/ White Card
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear documentation and reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel and MS Project
  • Experience in construction administrative processes and procedures
